Ready or Not, Here I Come.

Hands down, not even close in my opinion!

If a survey existed of the top kids games I am certain that Hide and Seek would be #1. I know it was for me growing up and it has been for my 4 girls. We’d play inside or outside, didn’t matter, we just loved the thrill of hiding. I can remember the day when our game grew from 3 girls to 4. Addy, our youngest, was about 2 years old. She desperately wanted to play. So her oldest sister Mackenzie took her by the hand and off they went to hide from dad. I vividly remember Addy finding he “blanky” and placing it over her face as she sat down in the middle of the family room – well hidden in her little mind.

I can’t help but believe that we as God’s children play the game similar to little Addy. We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Our sins can be placed into two categories, the open sins that others see like bad attitudes, harsh words, or a mean spirit. And then there is the other category, the sins we commit in secret. The sins that we think nobody else knows about. 1 Timothy 5 speaks to these secret sins:

“The sins of some people are blatant and march them right into court. The sins of others don’t show up until much later. The same with good deeds. Some you see right off, but none are hidden forever.”

Catch that last phrase – NONE are hidden forever.

God will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, for there is nothing hid that shall not be revealed. Time will make all things move from the darkness and into the light. Our secret sins will break out, and be exposed.

I’ve heard it said before, what we uncover (confess) God will cover. But what we cover (hide in secret), God will uncover.

We are fooling only ourselves if we think that our secret sins are hidden just because we hide under our “blanky” like Addy did. Our heavenly Father is looking down and sees everything. He may be giving you just one more chance to stop the sin before it is exposed to everyone. Now is the time to repent to God. Find a trusted friend to confide in, and begin the battle.

God is the seeker in this game and his count down has begun – 10, 9, 8, 7, …..
