7 Things We Need Not Fear as Men…

I love lists.

Men’s Health ran one in their recent publication that inspired me.

Man-to-man, we should not fear the following:

7 – Video Games – There is something to be said about keeping certain childhood enthusiasms alive.  Why is it ok to play Yahtzee or Monopoly but not Madden 09? Staying in touch with your younger self (and the teens in your life) is so much easier than going through puberty again.

6 – A Hot Cup of Tea – First stop for me for any trip to the mall is TEEVANA.  I’m still saving up for my first cup of Silver Monkey.  This delicious and healthy tea blend mixes two of the rarest teas in the world for a great combination! By blending Monkey Picked Oolong and our Silver Needle white tea, you get incredible health benefits and a wonderful taste. That’s what I’m talking about…..

5 – Mani/Pedicure – Guys, get over it.  Few matters of grooming are bigger turnoffs than dirty or ragged nails and out-of-control cuticles. Self-maintenance with clippers often results in a rough look, and most men are not in touch with our inner emery boards. The occasional pro will give you nice, even nails that can be easily maintained with a nail brush, soap and water.

4 – Superhero Cartoons – A continued love for these helps us stay connected with nephews and sons.  My all time favorite continues to be Super Friends.  While different smaller incarnations have appeared, five heroes made up the Super Friends original members and core group of heroes during the various versions. They were: Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Aquaman

Additional members included:
The Flash (1973 and 1978-1985) Green Lantern (1977–1985) Hawkman (1977-1978 and 1980-1985) Black Vulcan (1977-1978 and 1980-1984) Apache Chief (1977-1978 and 1980-1984) Samurai (1977-1978 and 1980-1984) Rima the Jungle Girl (1977 and 1980) El Dorado (1982–1985) Hawkgirl (1977, 1980 and 1983) The Atom (1977, 1980–1983) Firestorm (1984–1985) and Cyborg (1985)

3 – Massages– Hilga, the East German massuse at Massage Envy will make a grown man cry, every time.  Trust me.

2 – Andrea Bocelli – I have no idea what he sings about, but his music stirs something deep within my soul.  Put down the “Bubba shot the jukebox the other night – Said it played a sad song he didn’t like” country music for just this once…

1 – Living your faith OUT LOUD

  1. I’m with you bro – well almost. Silver Monkey? You bet! Video games? Well, of course! I’ll even stand with you in recommending a good Russian massage on occasion.

But manicures/pedicures? I’m going to have to take that one under advisement.

    Hope ALL is well.

    peace!
