Don’t Give Up…

The pressure of life got the best of her.  It just wasn’t worth fighting anymore.

It was a call that no one ever wants to receive…

Work long enough in the pit of life and you’re gonna get dirty.  Ministry has a way of doing that.

Work long enough with young people and you are sure to come face to face with the tragedy of suicide, either attempted or completed.

It happened to a young person I love and respect this past week…an attempt.

As her friends begin to work through through the “now whats”, we have come face to face with 2 truths:

  1. Sin does not define who we are.  As my friend reenters “life”, Satan will do his best to use this sin to discourage and define who she is.  Lies – lies – lies.  Christ tells us who we are, not satan, not sin.  Sin is an action, a verb….it’s not a noun! I am free from any condemnation brought against me and I cannot be separated from the love of God. – Romans 8:39.  As a friend, we must be very intentional about getting this child of the King back in the game.  Healing first, then restoration.
  2. Never ever ever ever underestimate the power of the evil one, whose sole purpose is to kill and destroy you and me as God’s kids.  An open door to him through things like Halloween and horror movies WILL do more harm to us than we can ever afford to pay.

Look around you today.  Someone is hurting.  Someone is contemplating a terrible decision.  Someone needs to hear the TRUTH.  And you just may be the messenger of hope.

  1. Hey Mr. Roy,

Thanks for that post. I have been in that young ladies shoes…attempting suicide. I will be praying for her and those who she loves and loves her. Thanks for reminding me to care for everyone…
